### $1.5 million federal grant will examine how the freeway divided the community

The Metropolitan Area Planning Agency will use a $1.5 million U.S. Department of Transportation Reconnecting Communities grant, plus $190,000 in local funding, to study Highway 75’s historical impact on North Omaha. The project will look at homes, businesses and places of worship displaced by the freeway, while MAPA and community groups including Spark and One Omaha involve residents in shaping future improvements.

## Senate campaigns clash over what counts as a town hall

### Osborn points to 520 days; Ricketts campaign cites 17 open events in three weeks

The Osborn campaign said Sunday that 520 days had passed since Sen. Pete Ricketts hosted a town hall, while defining town halls as public events with unscreened questions. Ricketts’ campaign called the claim nonsense, said it listed 17 open-to-the-public events over three weeks, and attributed limited advance publicity to security concerns.
